Public Defender Jeff Adachi requests funding to bolster staff

On Wednesday, the Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee will consider a request from the public defender to fill vacant positions to meet his caseload. Adachi is seeking $618,893 a year to fill seven positions. He says it would fix an imbalance between departments because during the past six months more than 200 positions have been hired for law enforcement departments and Superior Court.
