Directories

A number of programs are developing searchable databases of important legal services delivery information. AARP and legalhotlines.org have created two such directories on on the legalhotlines.org website. There is a directory of Pro Se Delivery Services indexing 411 pro se services by state, legal subject matter, and delivery system (e.g., pamphlets, video, internet, kiosk, etc.). There is also a Legal Hotline Directory indexing 157 legal hotline programs by state, service area, funding sources, client profile, hotline type and software.

E-Mail Lists

Sometimes called “listservs” after an early e-mail proprietary software program, these lists enable groups of people with shared interests to e-mail to the entire group, without the need for each individual to maintain and update an individual mailing list.

There are a number of such lists in the equal justice community.  For all these lists, members are screened to ensure that they are joining the appropriate list.  On most of these lists, once you sign up for the list, you have the option of receiving individual postings in your mail in-box, receiving a once-a-day digest or postings, or simply viewing the postings on the web whenever you choose.

  • State Support List: This list is for anyone working in a statewide or regional organization providing support to legal aid providers.
